Research InterestsMichael Haugh is a lecturer in the School of Languages and Linguistics at Griffith University. His research interests include pragmatics, particularly the study of face, politeness and implicature, as well as conversation analysis and corpus-based studies of language. He has recently been collaborating with others on the establishment of the Australian National Corpus, an online multimodal and multilingual database of language in Australia. Recent publications include a co-edited volume “Face, Communication and Social Interaction” (2009, Equinox, London), a special issue on ‘Conceptualising Communication’ in “Australian Journal of Linguistics (2009, Vol.29, No.1), and a special issue on ‘Intention in pragmatics’ in “Intercultural Pragmatics” (2008, Vol.5, No.2).
