SummerFest '09 Summer School: Interaction Design: Beyond Human Computer Interaction

Course Description

The world we live in has become suffused with computer technologies. They have created change and continue to create change. The aim of this tutorial is to reflect upon the many changes afoot and learn about a new paradigm for understanding our relationship with technology. Interaction Design is replacing Human-Computer Interaction, and addressing a much broader set of issues, challenges and concerns. These include human values, privacy, human augmentation (e.g., sixth sense devices), and the rise of techno-dependency and hyper-connectivity. This tutorial will cover the recent developments together with critiquing the efficacy and scope of the new lenses, tools and methods that are being developed as part of this exciting new field.
